35 Degrees South Planetarium35 Degrees South is Whangarei's very own planetarium. Officially opened in September 2012, it is run by the members of Northland Astronomical Society. Our aim is to promote an interest in science and astronomy to our fellow northlanders and beyond. We're open on the second and fourth Saturday night of every month. Winter sessions start at 6.30 pm. Location: Gate 1 Heritage Park Access is through the KiwiNorth carpark, up the driveway to the left of the Native Bird Recovery Centre. Admission: $10 per adult The planetarium offers opportunities to the public, schools and organisations to view the night sky independent of the weather or time of day.
